Dr. Black,

Congratulations on your retirement. You are an exceptional professor, mentor, and individual. I appreciate all of the effort you put forth to mold me into a more effective and knowledgeable pharmacist. You have impacted the lives of so many students whom have, in turn, had a positive effect on so many patients’ lives. The passion you had for your profession was clearly evident. I wish you the best of luck and joy in the coming years.

Congratulations and best wishes on your retirement! I am so glad to have co-authored an article in the Annals of Pharmacotherapy with you way back in 1992. You are a great mentor and an inspiration to so many pharmacists and pharmacy students. Best of luck in the future for a wonderful retirement.

Congratulation to a “March Aries.” I retired 12/31/10, so I’m a little ahead of you. I remember when you hired me in Pharmacy Practice many years ago. What a great boss you were! You were always saying thank you. I really missed you when you left and soon after that I transferred to Food Science. A couple years later I returned to Pharmacy Practice when Helen retired. I was so surprised when you knew Kovin Wesley Smith, who was my childhood next door neighbor. Wishing you only the best. Enjoy this new journey in your life. You deserve it!

Dear Curt:

Congratulations on an outstanding career at UT and welcome to the world of retirement. Somehow I can’t see you retiring completely; what will UT do without your daily involvement. Like your mother and father, UT is in your blood and, afterall, you have a rich legacy to continue. UT is a better institution because of your service and, most important, your dedicaton to the many students who had the privilege of learning from you. The Black family has been, and will continue to be, an important part of UT history. You have always gone above and beyond the call of duty — and, we expect that to be true in the future. Enjoy your new found freedom knowing you are admired and respected by your students, collegues and a few old time staff members. We wish you good health and a long retirement.

Dear Dr. Black,
I feel very fortunate to have been able to be educated at UTCP and a great deal of that credit belongs to you. You are a positive mentor, a remarkable educator and most of all one of the best individuals a person could be so lucky to get to know. I appreciate all the times post graduation you have stepped back into my life to support me. I will always treasure the great experience of being a TA for you and Marilyn. Your retirement will create a void that the UTCP will not be able to fill. You can not be duplicated; which is a tribute in itself.
