Back in June 2012, 13 ABC shared the news that the University of Toledo Medical Center (UTMC) would be building a new, multi-million dollar cancer center to provide centralized care. The center would make it possible for patients to be diagnosed, treated with chemotherapy, radiation and surgery, and receive therapy and recovery support all in one place.
The article outlined plans for the new Eleanor N. Dana Cancer Center and included quotes from UTMC physician Dr. John Feldmeier, Chairman of the Department of Radiation Oncology.
Part of what makes the center special, Feldmeier said, is the innovative technology available and the research that’s done at the new center. PET CT-scanners and CT images target tumors, and linear accelerators give physicians better access to tumors and mean more efficient treatment.
