Important TurningPoint (Clicker) Software Upgrade Notification

During the break between Spring and Summer Session, Classroom Support Services will upgrade all classroom instructor workstations to TurningPoint 5 (TP5) and Learning Ventures will disable Blackboard integration support for all versions of TurningPoint prior to version 5.x. Therefore, to continue to exchanges data (class lists and polling data) between TP and Blackboard, you will need to upgrade your personal computer(s) to TP5 prior to the start of Summer Semester on May 12, 2014. (See instructions for “Downloading the New TurningPoint 5 Software” below.)

TurningPoint 5 Training Available April 15-17

To assist you with this transition, Turning Technologies representatives will be on campus to offer training sessions for TurningPoint 5 software on April 15th, 16th, and 17th. Separate session will be available for Mac and PC users as well as separate sessions for anyone interested in using TurningPoint 5 Anywhere. To attend one or more of these sessions, please register as soon as possible at https://utdl.edu/DL_training/. (Space in each training session is limited.) Please note that these sessions are
located under the “Classroom Technology” heading and that all sessions are designed for both new and experienced users.

Key Features of TurningPoint 5 (TP5)

  • New “all-in-one” software is available in a single download that provides the same user experience on both the Mac and PC.
  • Available in either an install or no-install version. The install version adds an integrated tab in PowerPoint (PC only) while the
no-install version uses a floating showbar with PowerPoint (Mac and PC).
  • Enhanced “on-demand” integration in Blackboard Learn allows you to import participant lists and “sync” polling sessions.
  • Includes TurningPoint 5 Anywhere which allows you to poll “on-th-fly” in any environment.

Downloading the New TurningPoint 5 Software

If you are currently using an earlier version of TurningPoint (other than version 5.x), you should not upgrade your desktop software till after the end of the current Spring 2014 Ssemester. Once you decide to upgrade, you can download the free TuringPoint 5 software from the “Turning Technologies Software Downloads” page at http://www.turningtechnologies.com/responsesystemsupport/downloads. Once on this page, simply click on the “TurningPoint 5” link under “Polling Software” and download the version appropriate to your system.
