Kappa Delta Pi – 2016 initiation

Kappa Delta Pi, the international honor society in education, recently added twenty-one new members to it’s Zeta Epsilon (UT) chapter.  Membership into Kappa Delta Pi is by invitation only and is based on high academic achievement, commitment, and professional attitude.

2016 Outstanding Alumna – Essie Calhoun-McDavid

Congratulations to Essie Calhoun-McDavid, who will be honored at the Homecoming Gala as the 2016 Outstanding Alumna for the Judith Herb College of Education. After earning a bachelor’s degree in education in 1970, Essie work for a dozen years in schools in Indiana, Michigan, and Maryland. Her career path carried her to the role of Chief Diversity and Community Affairs Officer at Eastman Kodak Company.

A Community Conversation on Implicit Bias – October 10 at the Kent Branch Library 6:30-8:00 pm

Join the UT Office of Diversity and Inclusion and the JHCOE Department of Educational Foundations and Leadership for a community conversation on Implicit Bias.  It will be held at the Toledo Public Library Kent Branch (corner of Collingwood and Central) on October 10 from 6:30-8:00 pm.  This session will be a discussion on the 2016 report that suggests racial bias among preschool teachers and strategies for uncovering and addressing our own biases.

College Scholarship Application 2017-18 Now Available

Judith Herb College of Education Scholarship applications for the academic year 2017-2018 are now available.  Applications are due no later than Thursday, December 15th.  Please read the instructions carefully, complete the application in its entirety, and drop it off or mail it to the scholarship committee in the Student Services office in Gillham Hall room 3100, Mail Stop 914.
