New Book About White Supremacist Violence Aims to Stop Spread of Hate Movement

Dr. Lisa Pescara-Kovach, professor of educational psychology and director of the Center for Education in Mass Violence and Suicide has co-authored a book about the resurgence of white supremacist violence to help stop the spread of the hate movement and domestic terrorism.

Susan Parks Recognized for Work at Old Orchard


Susan Parks and her students have been recognized by Valerie Dreier, Principal of Old Orchard Elementary School, for their important literacy work and help with the 3rdGrade Reading Guarantee. Each student works one-on-one with a student on their reading proficiency. Considerable reading gains have been demonstrated with the students along with improvements in their academic confidence and general self-esteem. Congratulations to Susan and her students on this important academic work!

Located on the third floor of Gillham Hall, the center’s mission is to evaluate and inspire peer-reviewed research in the college to improve and advance education and endow a great society.


Herb Innovation Center Dedicated

The Judith Herb College of Education dedicated the Herb Innovation Center last week. Attending the Oct. 4 event were, from left, Dr. Raymond Witte, dean of the Judith Herb College of Education; UT President Sharon L. Gaber; Judith Herb, UT alumna and benefactor; and Dr. Andrew Hsu, provost and executive vice president for academic affairs. Located on the third floor of Gillham Hall, the center’s mission is to evaluate and inspire peer-reviewed research in the college to improve and advance education and endow a great society. “We are grateful to Judith Herb for her generosity and dedication to her alma mater, and for her belief in the power of education,” Witte said.

The Master’s in Educational Research and Measurement program at the JHCOE has been ranked #19
